Audrey started full-day kindergarten today, where did the time go?

Audrey graduated from preschool. Yup, she starts big girl, all day kindergarten in the fall. Luckily, it is a school that is about a mile from our house that sports both a playground and the public library nearby.  Audrey couldn't be happier.

And me? I find myself a little saddened by the fact that she is getting bigger, but at the same time, I am SO EXCITED to see what kind of a person she grows up to be.

I am reminded, though, that we should take more pictures to capture these moments.

I have a bunch of things that I want to share about my amazing daughter, but for now I wanted to share with you the answers that Audrey gave to her "questions."

My favorite thing about preschool was..."That we got to do activities"

What will your husband or wife be like? "Nice"

If you were a Mom, what would your 3 rules be? "No getting into the kitchen unless it's dinnertime, Don't go into the laundry room, unless I tell you to, You can play with toys if it's not dinnertime"

What can you do to make the world a better place? "Throw away garbage around the whole world or maybe recycle it:

What kinds of things does your dad do? "Tuck me in snug as a bug in a rug. He carries us up to bed at night"

What kinds of things does your mom do? "She makes delicious steak for dinner.  She makes a fruit salad in my lunch."

What do you do that gets you in trouble? "If I went to play in the storage closet"

What is a friend? "A friend is like a mother.  A friend is someone you always want to play with"

What do you want to be when you grow up? "A veterinarian"

Who is the smartest person you know? "My cousin Daniel, he knows that laughing makes you live longer"

Charlotte turned a year old on Saturday.  And I regret not posting her earlier stats, or pics, or videos...or anything.  I hope she doesn't look back at this site one day and get upset.

She's my last - my little peanut.  So far Charlotte has been with me all day, every day (with the exception of a few hours here and there), since the day she was born.

First to her stats:

Charlotte weighs 17lbs 2.3 oz and is 27.5 inches long.  I won't make you do the research, but she is 4 inches shorter than Audrey was at this age and 2 inches shorter than Lily.  She is 2 pounds lighter than both of them.  Like I said, she's a peanut.

Despite all of this, Charlotte has surpassed both of her older sisters with the amount of teeth that she has at this age.  She even has molars!

Days are spent with all of the girls playing together, and just like Lily did, Charlotte loves talking to "adaa" (Audrey).  She is a very happy baby and really only cries when she is hungry/thirsty or tired.

My favorite thing about her is her laugh.  She scrunches up her face, as you can see from most of the April photos.  Her way of greeting people is to lean toward them and let them hold her, even if only for a moment.  She is definitely a mommy's girl... and this mom wouldn't have it any other way.

Last night I told Audrey to shut up.  As you can guess it was bedtime the baby was crying, etc, etc.  So I handed Charlotte off to Jordan and in a moment of frustration I told her to shut up.  What's worse is that Lisa was having dinner with us.  Normal chaos she is used to around here, but I didn't need to yell at my daughter.

By the way, did I mention that my new year's resolution was to yell less and listen more?

SO last night after we all were done yelling, I settled in and read Audrey a book (Ivy and Bean). It is a long chapter book, so I was in there for a while.  Both girls fell asleep and I went to bed feeling bad for having said what I said.

This morning I told Audrey that I was really sorry that I lost my cool and told her to shut up.  She replied, "what?  I totally wasn't listening to you yesterday night. I tuned you out".

Great.

There was a day not so long ago that I had a little girl. Small and tiny...

And now I have a pre-k'er....tall and mighty.
Audrey turned 5 on the 5th...how did that happen??  She's FIVE!

Audrey is now able to read "Level 3" beginning reader books.  She loves words, and she is very good at finding rhymes in conversation and pointing them out to us.  Audrey is also beginning to understand basic arithmetic, and no longer needs to use her fingers to know 2 + 2.  She has such a great sense of humor, and she understands more and more of the jokes on "The Simpson's" (much to the amusement of her father).

We are amazed by her art, too.  She draws houses and people more than anything else, but it's interesting to see her try to improve different aspects.  One day, she might work on getting five fingers on each hand.  Another day, she'll try drawing different types of clothing, etc.  Her drawings seem to display some very accurate details for someone her age.

Above all else, Audrey is a wonderful big sister.  She is such a great teacher for Lily, who knows her ABC's, colors, and shapes with little help from Mom and Dad.  Audrey is also very helpful with Charlotte, whose face lights up whenever big sis is nearby. If I have to leave the room, I know that I can trust her to keep the baby entertained until I return.

It's funny how it seems like only yesterday when Audrey was Charlotte's size, but at the same time, I feel like she's been with me forever.  That being said, I will try to remember to read this when she's a teenager.

Audrey went to her first day of Pre-K and I didn't take a picture.  Wait, I took pictures of Charlotte while I was making the bed, but that doesn't exactly mark the momentous occasion that is Audrey's last "first" day of preschool does it?

I told Audrey that I forgot to take a picture and she said, "that's no big deal, mom...I go to school every day.  Just do one with Lily tomorrow."  Ah, I love her.

So, the day came, and now it was Lily's first day of preschool.  A day that I am convinced Lily has been waiting to experience for 2 years.  Last year, when dropping off Audrey, Lily would immediately sit at the table for "table tops" and say, "goodbye mom, see you".  I would have to drag, and this is NO joke, DRAG her out of the preschool.

Today was finally her day.  She knew it the minute she woke up.  How do I know?  Oh, Lily said, "mommy I go to school, you'll go home, K?".

Flash back 2 years ago, I was telling Audrey she was going to preschool.  Her reply, "but you'll be there, right?".  Flash forward to now.  Audrey said today, "you can just drop me off and take care of Lily; I'll go right to my class, no problem".

Today there were a lot of crying kids, crying moms, you name it.  Me?  I looked in on both of my little ladies and quietly walked out.

Let's see how well I do when it's kindergarten....

Somebody pinch me...my little munchkin is four months old.  I should be used to it by now, I know. But time really needs to find a way to slow down, don't you think?

Charlotte is a fantastic baby.  There are a couple of times that she gets fussy, when she is too hot or when she is tired.  The first can be solved by putting her in front of a fan.  Like her father, she instantly relaxes when cool air is blown over her.  For the latter, she fusses for a brief moment and usually, once put into the "hold", will fall right asleep.  Charlotte sleeps through the night.  She has woken up every once in a while, but not enough for me to ever remember.

Her head control is amazing and she really enjoys watching people eat.  The most adorable thing about her, in my humble opinion, is how much she loves talking and laughing at her big sisters.  She lights up each and every time Audrey talks to her and gives a giggle whenever Lily smiles at her.

Okay, now on to the stats.

Charlotte weighs 14 pounds, 3.3 ounces and is 24 inches long!  She is by far our smallest...but she is definitely right on track.  She gained almost 3 pounds in two months!  Must be something in the milk...
